Law Enforcement Response to Active Killers

Active Killer Response is an intensive, reality-based course built for law enforcement officers who carry the legal, moral, and ethical responsibility to immediately stop an active killer. This course challenges students to make sound, decisive judgments under extreme stress and to apply rapid tactical and lethal intervention when seconds matter and lives are at stake.

Over three demanding days, students will engage in active-learning instruction and hands-on practical application covering the full spectrum of response. This includes Solo Officer Response, Contact Team CQB, Tactical Supervision, and Incident Command. Emphasis is placed on decision-making, movement, communication, and command in the most dynamic and unforgiving operational environment law enforcement faces.

Students will analyze and apply strategies across the Pre-Attack, Attack, and Post-Attack phases, with specific focus on coordination and deconfliction with responding law enforcement agencies and armed school staff. The course is designed to expose friction points, test assumptions, and reinforce disciplined execution under pressure.

This training is grounded in hard lessons learned from real-world events, including Columbine High School (1999), Robb Elementary School (2021), and Covenant School (2023). Common failures and successes are identified, stripped down to fundamentals, and rebuilt into a structured, consumable three-day training progression.

Active killer incidents are chaotic, fast-moving, and unforgiving. Effective training must be equally adaptive, realistic, and demanding. Scenarios, environments, and objectives are designed to mirror real operational conditions and reflect the experience of instructors who have responded to active killer events themselves.
