Requirements for FASTER Training
LEVEL-1
You are required to have a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit. You may apply for FASTER before you get your CHP, but will need it before training. Anyone prohibited from possessing a firearm will be disqualified.
We are looking for a wide range of people with various levels of experience. We will keep your answers and your identity confidential.
Other FASTER Levels
As a reminder, you must have completed FASTER Level-1 with 100% on the POST handgun qualification to attend the Level-2 class. To attend the Level-3 class you must have successfully completed Level 2 at 100%. To attend the Advanced Level class you must have successfully completed Level 3 at 100%. Please check your last completion certificate before registering.
Cost of FASTER Training
Level-1 classes cost $1,250. Subsequent levels cost $750. Security Specialist training costs $2,000. You can pay your tuition securely on this website using our donation form, or pay via check. We will invoice you for the cost of the class two weeks prior to the class date. While we raise private money to cover program operational cost, and provide scholarships to school districts in their first year, districts should budget for security training just as they do for other required training. Some districts have been able to apply for school safety grants to help with the cost of an armed security team. Others have had success with community fundraisers that are dedicated to funding these expenses.
Scholarships
At FASTER Colorado, we never want the lack of budget in a school or district to keep a school staff member from this life-saving training. Partial scholarships are available for school staff members upon request, while they are available. Partial scholarships may be available to other participants.
